Target Hitting
Purpose: This drill is for softball hitting. It's main purpose is to develop the right-handed batter's skill of hitting an outside pitch to right field and an inside pitch to left field, and vice versa for the left-handed batter.
Procedure: In batting practice the batter must hit into an assigned area of the field. For example, the first pitch a right-handed batter hits must be to the right field. She will need to be sure to wait for an outside pitch. On her next swing she must try to pull the ball, thus looking for an inside pitch. This drill can be done with or without fielders and base runners.
