TeamSnap for Business shares the best resources for new youth baseball coaches to help advance their coaching goals.
Youth sports administrators know that recruiting reliable coaches can be a challenge, especially in the sport of baseball. Not only are parents and families very limited with their free time, but sometimes the ones willing to help out have little to no coaching experience.
One of the most popular youth sports in the United States, baseball presents a huge need for coaching help and coaching guidance. Sure, many of us played Little League baseball growing up, but there’s still a big difference between playing the game as a child and coaching your children today.
Let’s fix that issue. Administrators can utilize baseball coaching resources to help their volunteer coaches (especially the ones with little free time) get ahead of the game. That could mean practice plans, drills, help with communicating with parents and athletes, and so much more.
Here’s a list of the best resources sports administrators can provide for youth baseball coaches.
USA Baseball is the national governing body for amateur baseball in the United States. And we’ll always recommend this a great place to start when looking for baseball resources or sport-specific resources: the national governing body. The USA Baseball Develops site is dedicated to providing “resources for coaches, players, parents, and umpires.” It’s full of information and resources around a variety of topics such as athlete safety, education, clinics, events, training equipment, and more.
While TeamSnap recommends checking out our MLB-backed content on the TeamSnap+ Coaches Pack, we understand that sometimes coaches are in a pinch and may head straight to YouTube. There are plenty of great YouTube channels offering some insights into the specific art of certain baseball drills. Below is a list of great YouTube channels covering baseball techniques and strategies.
Every year, the American Baseball Coaches Association holds a national coaches convention. In 2025, the ABCA Convention will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, D.C. in early January. This convention is a great place for baseball coaches to connect with their counterparts across the country, visit the tradeshow “showcasing cutting-edge baseball equipment, technology, and services,” and hear from a decorated list of speakers.
Some coaches have a great handle on the ins and outs of practice development. But, there’s so much more to a great youth sports coach. Sean Jensen, a former NFL reporter and current author, podcast host, and head soccer coach, created a podcast titled ‘Winning Is Not Everything’. In each episode, you’ll find Jensen enjoying a conversation with “a notable athlete, coach or influencer about their youth sports experience, lessons they learned through sports and keys to their success.”
While the above resources are great tools for every coach in your baseball organization, some administrators are looking for a one-stop shop to streamline this process. That’s where the TeamSnap+ Coaches Pack comes into play.
